Stila Heaven’s Hue Highlighter in Transcendence

I’m the type of girl that likes a blinding highlight all the time no matter where I’m going: work, grocery store, night out, etc. I also love bold and different highlights. You probably guessed that since the Anastasia Beverly Hills Moonchild glow kit is one of my favorite highlights.

When my best friend Char first used this highlight in Cancun I was definitely intrigued. When I asked her what glow she had on her cheeks she said ” Have you heard of the putty highlight? It’s kinda like the colourpop highlights” When she said that I was sold. I love the colourpop highlights since it feels different. I loved the way it looked on her so I was set of buying it when we came back.

Since there’s an ulta close to my work (which is both a blessing and a curse) I decided to stop by to see if they had it in stock. Unfortunately the shade she had wasn’t in stock and I decided to try Transcendence instead since the swatches I did in store looked promising.

I normally use the Morphe M501 or Anastasia A23 brush to highlight. But when I tried to use the brush with it, it didn’t look like I put too much on my face. The website suggested using a makeup sponge or my fingers. I applied it with my finger and blended it with a brush so it didn’t look like a line of highlight on my face.

I don’t think this picture does it justice. It’s coming off more subtle than in real life. Looking in the mirror I could see more of the purple/pink that this gives off. I have to play around with this highlight some more but I do like it. I don’t normally apply my highlight with my finger so that was something to get used to. I’ve used this a few times since I’ve purchased it and will continue to do so. I do want to get the other highlight in Kitten which is more of  gold highlight.

Cancun Trip + Vacay Must Haves

As I mentioned in my previous post, I went to Cancun last month for my best friend’s bachelorette. I went to Cancun last year with my sisters and this time around I was more prepared with what to expect and what I should bring along with me.

Before I get started on reminiscing about my vacation, let’s get into the essentials:

Passport/ID/Cash

Sneakers/sandals/flip flops

Sunglasses/Floppy hat

Sunscreen

Camera

Cute swimsuits

Portable charger

I wish I can say that I didn’t overpack or that I packed just what I needed but that would be a lie. I had several outfits that I brought that I didn’t use, more sandals than I even wore and one piece swim suits that I didn’t even get the change to wear. But with every trip, you learn what to bring and what not to bring.

Now to the good part *insert giggle here*

This is the view from our ocean front suite. It was so incredible to walk onto our balcony each morning and have my morning coffee here with the calming sounds of the waves.

This is the view we had leaving our suite. I can’t get over how much I love the buildings and the bright blue skies here.

We went to Xel-Ha and that was where we went snorkeling for the first time! It’s all inclusive food and drinks. There are a bunch of other activities that you can do too. We did ziplining as well.

Who goes snorkeling and doesn’t take a selfie? I had so much fun. At first I forgot that I have to breath through my mouth and ended up having a bunch of water in my mouth. That wasn’t fun but I would definitely go back to snorkel here when I come back in the future.

We swam across the way so that we could go to through this cave. I’ve never experienced anything like this. I definitely recommend visiting this area to take a little break from snorkeling. The water isn’t that deep here and it’s perfect to just relax and enjoy the water.

We did a Cun Crawl, and that’s where you go to 3 different clubs in one night. It was so fun but unfortunately I don’t have too many pictures from the club. The nightlife is pretty crazy and when we headed back to our hotel at around 2:30, the clubs were still going full force and there was a bunch of people out.

If this leaves you wanting more, my vlog from this Cancun trip is up on my youtube channel.

My Favorite Highlights

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Let’s just take a moment to appreciate how beautiful these highlights are…. It was really hard to really narrow it down but I did it. I have a few products that have been my favorite for awhile and then a new product that came out a couple of months ago.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

First up is this highlight that should be of no surprise to you, Becca Cosmetics & Jaclyn Hill collab, Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop. This highlight gives you a glow that you can see from miles away. I think even the aliens on another planet can see this. Every time I wear this I know it’ll stay on and beaming all day long. I choose this for special occasions and I just love it. I think I’ll cry when I hit pan, that’s how much I love this.

I absolutely love the Anastasia Glow Kits. My favorite is Moodchild. I’ve always seen myself as someone that explores colors when it comes to makeup so when this came out last year, I JUST HAD TO HAVE IT. Shout out to my boyfriend who gave this to me on our anniversary last year! It may not be an everyday highlight, but I find myself using it every day. My favorites in this are Blue Ice and Pink Heart. But I love to use a combo on my cheeks such as Star at the apples of my cheeks and Blue Moon on my cheek bones. OBSESSED. They are too die for and I find that a little blue highlight on the tip of my nose just gives my makeup look a little something extra. Like alot of beauty bloggers say, this can definitely be used on the eyes as well, but I have yet to try that. The first time I used this glow kit I found that I had more people looking in my direction and that’s when it hit me that I had a blue highlight on and I didn’t mind it at all.

I searched almost every Sephora and Ulta to find the Laura Gellar highlight in Gilded Honey. After having no luck, I thought to myself that I would never find it in stock. One random day my friend and I decided to go to Ulta and there it was. Definitely meant to be. The beautiful swirl is what attracted me the most but it is such a beautiful gold highlight. I reach for this when I don’t want the peachy tone of Champagne pop and want something more golden. It’s beautiful on the skin, especially if you spray your highlighting brush with setting spray to intensify it.

The newest of my highlight obsessions is the Anastasia Nicole Glow Kit. There’s mixed reviews about the palette but I love it. While others don’t like to see actual glitters on their face, I don’t mind it with this glow kit. Nicole Guerriero is one of my favorite youtubers and I knew once this dropped, I needed it. My favorites are Kitty Kat and Daydream. Daydream is beautiful if you’re going with a warm tone look with orangey eye shadows. I don’t have any other highlights that shade and I love it.

Here are the highlights swatched on my arm. Of course, my face is a little lighter than my body, but you can see how beautiful they are!

Left to Right:

ABH Nicole Glow Kit Kitty Kat & Daydream, ABH Moonchild Glow Kit Pink Heart & Blue Ice, Becca Champagne Pop and Laura Geller Gilded Honey.

I use 2 brushes to highlight: Anastasia A23 and Morphe M501 (I know there’s a bunch of controversy regarding Morphe brushes shedding, but the M501 brush hasn’t shed on me yet. If I did experience that I would definitely share)

I hope you liked my favorite highlights. I’m thinking of doing more posts like this so please let me know which makeup product you want to see me talk about next!

Yummi Tea Cafe

Last month Darrel (my boyfriend) and I were leaving Target and I saw this restaurant that serves hot pot, snacks and milk tea. I immediately went to Yelp to see if it got any good reviews. Since it’s a new restaurant, it didn’t have too many reviews but the ones I read were mostly good. I was so excited when my boyfriend said we could go there for lunch on our next day off together. The only way to know if it’s a good spot to eat is to try it out. The menu is split up into hot pot (they don’t serve it during certain hours), snacks and milk tea. Combos are a better way to go, since it makes it more affordable.

First we got our drinks. I got the butterfly pea earl grey milk tea and Darrel got the earl grey milk tea. I’ve been fasinated by this blue tea because it makes the drinks look so pretty (and instagram worthy) I’ve had it at other boba spots in the Bay Area. It’s pretty good and the butterfly pea tea doesn’t really have a taste in my opinion. The regular earl grey milk tea isn’t as sweet as the one I got so I’m guessing that it’s the difference between the two.

As for the hot pot, I got the spicy beef mongolian hot pot (mild) and Darrel got the beef miso hot pot. We also got their fried chicken which was pretty phenomenal. We made the decision that if we were in the area craving chicken from a boba spot that this would be our go-to. It’s tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. It was so good. The hot pot was flavorful, and mine was not too spicy. I’ve been to a few other hot pot places and this is just as good. The only difference is that Yummi Tea Cafe doesn’t have as many options as its competitors.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Overall, I give it 4 stars. It’s affordable since I was able to feed both of us with the main course, snack and drinks for under $40. If you’re in a relationship, you know that majority of the spending goes to eating out all the time. It’s a plus that its not hard on the wallet. Another reason is that the hot pot is flavorful, my only protest is that I didn’t care so much about it having a chunk of pumpkin inside. But I can overlook that because it was so good. The milk tea is pretty good and I’m always looking for a new spot to try out, as long as its close by.

Let me know if you like reading about my food adventures! Until next time.

The Princess Saves Herself In This One by Amanda Lovelace

I picked up this book two weekends ago because of the title. It’s a series of poems that tells quite an emotional story. It can easily be finished in one sitting, but I tried to space it out but ended up finishing it the second time I opened the book. This book tugged on my heart strings for sure. It’s an easy read as long as you have a box of tissues by your side. It made me giggle, sad, cry and then it gave me butterflies inside. I don’t want to give any spoilers but I do want to share my favorite poem in this book. It made me think of my relationship with my boyfriend.

I hope this makes you want to take a break from Facebook, Instagram, Netflix or any of the many distractions to read a good book and enjoy the words that can tug at your heart. If you’re a fellow book worm, I’m always up for hearing book recommendations! Leave it in the comments and I’ll check it out. Thanks in advance!

May VLOG #2

The past couple of weeks I’ve been able to spend some time with my boyfriend since we’ve been having the same days off lately. We didn’t get the same days off before so we definitely take advantage of it.

We found a new hot pot spot in town that has THE CUTEST blue drink: butterfly pea early grey milk tea. The butterfly pea tea gives it the blue color and its very aesthetically pleasing. We also ventured out into Morgan Hill and fell in love with the laid back, small town vibes! I hope you enjoy, like and subscribe so I can share more vlogs with you!
